DiningRia dinner club - Mencoba makanan yang tidak biasa
Saturday evening I met up with a couple of new bright young people for a dinner at Sushi Tei. The group of 10-12 people was a very diverse one if it comes to job backgrounds, most of the people present were in one or another way related to each other, although nobody knew everybody. It’s great to have a breath of fresh air, especially since I love meeting new people.
Although I have been very motivated in the beginning to master Indonesian as quickly as possible, I kind of put it on a low priority not too long after arrival. I have a feeling though that I should pick it up again, because I feel it really helps me a lot. So far I have been fortunate about the people I did meet. They either were skilled English people or they had poor English, but we could communicate if I tried my best with my poor Indonesian.
The people I was introduced to last Saturday were mostly related to marketing. I have an interest in marketing, and regularly read about marketing developments in The Netherlands, although I consider myself as a rookie if it comes to marketing. It’s nice to talk with these people and we covered a broad spectrum of conversational topics. DiningRia - eat something different!
I am happy they liked meeting me too, and therefore we decided to meet once a week. Obviously my curiosity about the dishes served here is one they could identify with. Therefore we’ll try to meet every Saturday in the time to come to try different dishes that would be considered strange at home (and by some here, not less). Of course it’s more like a good reason to meet and to do some fun stuff, still I am happy I can join in on their informal dinnerclub. If this is really going to happen you can expect a review on the place were we went to, a picture of what the dish looks like and a description about the taste and the price we paid for it. I believe the menu for next Saturday will bats. What strange food did you eat lately? Anything you can recommend? It’s not likely we’ll have this as an appetiser though. (thanks, but no thanks Oscar)
